Page Description - Information and Content - Electric Reliability Council of Texas
Electric Reliability Council of Texas -ERCOT - ERCOT, which operates the grid that serves 85% of the electric load in Texas, implemented a new wholesale market design, the Texas Nodal Market, in December 2010. The new market design required ERCOT to develop a complex system of software and hardware, and required market participants to develop the systems to make bids in the new market and respond to instructions and other communications from ERCOT. The nodal market will improve the management of transmission congestion and provide better information about where it would be desirable to build new generation facilities, resulting in more efficient operation of generation facilities, more reliable grid operations, and better investment decisions by power generation companies. The nodal market opened without incident on December 1, 2010. Location - Headquarters - 2705 West Lake Drive; Taylor, Texas (Texas - Austin Area) 76574. 512-248-6800.. Information - Steve Isser (Good Company Associates) presentation on CalISO Demand Response to Electric Reliability Council Of Texas - ERCOT - http://www.EnergyCollection.us/Companies/ERCOT/CalISO-DR-ERCOT.pdf
Per Patrick James (TXU Energy) - ERCOT - none of the LDCs in Texas are doing Demand Response - only the retail choice players - the aggregators. ERCOT does have some Commercial accounts direct for Demand response. ERCOT does not provide demand response payments - there are not enough meters installed.
