Dr. Jan Carr joined the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) Board in January 2009 and is a member of the Audit Committee. Dr. Carr has more than 35 years experience in the electricity sector as a professional engineer, holding senior positions in the design and planning of electricity transmission and distribution systems and advising utilities, governments and other stakeholders on the financial, business, strategic and policy aspects of the electric power industry. He has worked on projects in many parts of the world, including Asia, Africa and the Caribbean and holds a Ph.D. in electric power systems from the University of Waterloo. Dr. Carr was the Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Power Authority from the time of its founding in January 2005 until September 2008. Prior to that, he was Vice Chair of the Ontario Energy Board has served on the Board of Directors ofTransAlta Power and of Macquarie Canadian Infrastructure Management Ltd., a privately held infrastructure investment fund. He was a member of the Advisory Committee on Competition in Ontario's Electricity System and Chairman of the Electricity Task Force of the Toronto Board ofTrade. He was a publicly elected Commissioner and Chairman of the municipally-owned electric utility serving the Town of Niagara- on-the-Lake, and a board member and regional Chair of the Municipal Electric Association (today's Electricity Distributors Association)

Ms. Nancy Laird was appointed to the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) Board in June 2003. She is Chair of the Human Resources, Compensation and Governance Committee and a member of the Audit Committee. Ms. Laird has held senior executive positions in several major energy companies and has a diverse background in managing energy trading and market portfolios, investment banking and IT, and futures trading. Ms. Laird served as a Senior Vice-President in PanCanadian Energy Corporation’s Marketing & Midstream, Environmental and Information Technology areas. She was also President of NrG Informaton Services Inc., where she structured a high-tech joint venture between NOVA, TransCanada PipeLines, Westcoast and Tenneco into an independent corporate entity. Ms. Laird is a current Board member of United Way of Calgary and Hull Child and Family Services. She is a former Board member of Canadian Oil Sands Trust, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, Alliance Pipeline and ProGas and has an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto.
Paul McMillan joined the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) Board in April, 2010. Mr. McMillan is the Principal ofTidalShift Capitallnc. Prior to establishing his own company, Mr. McMillan held the position of Senior Vice-President, Ontario with EPCOR Utilities Inc. and was responsible for all of EPCOR's Ontario operating and business development activities. Previous to this role, Mr. McMillan was President of EPCOR Merchant and Capital L.P., the business unit responsible for EPCOR's merchant and commodity based transaction activities. Before joining EPCOR, Mr. McMillan held positions of progressive responsibility in the natural gas industry starting with Union Gas Ltd. in 1982. Mr. McMillan is Past Chair of the Ontario Energy Association and a past member of the Stakeholder Advisory Committee to the Board of Directors for the Independent Electric System Operator of Ontario. He also is a member of the Board ofTrustees of the Canadian Athletic Foundation. Mr. McMillan resides in Calgary, Alberta ..
